Happy St. Patrick's Day! We're wearing green at Wise Bites today to celebrate our Irish heritage.
In fact, it was my Irish father's real love of his afternoon tea and cookies that, in part, inspired me to create Wise Bites so that our daily snack time can be a healthy one.
We know that, to many, St. Patrick's Day brings a night of revelry featuring green beer and pub food. But if you'd like to mark the occasion in a more healthful fashion, here are five recipes we like for adding a little bit of Ireland to your day.
Gluten-free Irish Stew: Try this healthful take on a traditional Irish mainstay.
Gluten-free Irish Soda Bread: Serve this with your favourite soups and stews!
Gluten- and Dairy-free Colcannon Soup: Cabbage is a great antioxidant, plus its rich Vitamin A content makes it a great brain food that supports concentration and fights cognitive decline.
Gluten-free Potato Leek Soup: It wouldn't be an Irish dinner if it didn't include potatoes. We love how this recipe combines potatoes with flavourful leeks.
Baked Kale Chips: Okay, this isn't exactly traditional Irish fare, but this yummy green snack packs a mean nutritional punch.
How are you marking the day?
